Anyone remember Flox in Fleet Street?

Flox sold posters, cards and other bits and pieces, but upstairs was the record department where I spent many a happy hour in the late seventies flicking through the rows and rows of vinyl. As I remember it was kind of dark in there, and there was always the smell of petuli oil which came from the other customers and hung around in the airless environment. Being a record shop there was always something on the turntable, and they weren't afraid to crank the volume up. In those days Flox seemed to have pretty much everything, and so here I will try and recreate that with these playlists.

NICKY SWANN

Recently I went along to a gig at the Blue Walnut in Walnut Road, Torquay. The guy playing was Clive Gregson, who, although an accomplished guitarist, vocalist and songwriter, I have to say was not particularly to my taste. Supporting him though, was a local girl called Nicky Swann, who absolutely blew me away. She only played half a dozen songs, but I went home and searched the Internet for her music. I couldn't include her on my playlists as her music is not 'out there' to choose from, but you can hear samples of her work via the link below. You can purchase her music from iTunes, but it's cheaper to download the whole album at the link below.
